1. An idle speed control system for an internal combustion engine, comprising:

  • an auxiliary air control valve operatively disposed in an auxiliary air passage which is communicated at its downstream end with an intake air passageway downstream of a throttle valve; and

means for controlling an amount of air flowing through said auxiliary air passage to control an idle speed of the engine under an idle operating condition, said air amount controlling means includingmeans for producing a model torque of a power output shaft of the engine in time series, in accordance with a target idle speed by using a model, means for detecting a torque of the power output shaft, andmeans for controlling an opening degree of said auxiliary air control valve in accordance with a first difference between said model torque and said detected torque so as to control the air flowing amount in the auxiliary air passage.
