1. A syringe comprising:
- an elongate, tubular member having a proximal end, a distal end, and a hollow lumen extending longitudinally therethrough;
a needle disposed on said proximal end of said tubular member, said needle being in fluid communication with said lumen;
a flange formed on the distal end of said tubular member;
a piston insertable through said flange into the distal end of said tubular member, said piston being reciprocally movable within said lumen; and
a single optical window member having inner and outer surfaces, said window member being insert into said tubular member in a manner wherein said inner surface defines a portion of the lumen, and constructed of a material which provides a substantially transparent, repeatable optical light path from the exterior of the tubular member to the lumen.
