1. A curable composition comprising:

  • A) An aqueous medium;

    B) A first polymer stably dispersed in said aqueous medium, said first polymer having a weight average molecular weight of at least 50,000 and being insoluble in water, said first polymer having covalently bonded silane groups of the Formula (1);

    ##STR5## in which a is 0 to 2, R1 is C1-6 alkyl, and R is OH or a hydrolizable group, the groups of Formula (1) contributing from 0.05 to 2% by weight of silicon to the weight of said First polymer; and

    C) A second polymer dissolved or dispersed in said aqueous medium, said second polymer having a weight average molecular weight between 300 and 20,000, comprising at least two silane groups of Formula (1), the groups of Formula (1) contributing between 0.2 and 16% by weight of silicon to the weight of said second polymer, and said second polymer also comprising covalently bonded cationic hydrophilic groups in an amount sufficient to render said second polymer soluble or self dispersible in the aqueous medium,the non-volatile weight ratio of said first polymer to said second polymer being in the range 40;

    1 to 1;
