1. The method of determining the thickness of a magnetic pipe comprising the steps of:
- inserting into said pipe a wound coil which has its radius aligned with the radius of said pipe and said coil being closely magnetically coupled to said pipe;
applying a voltage to said coil at an initial time;
monitoring the current through the coil caused by said voltage;
measuring the time from the initial application of said voltage that it takes for the current to reach a value at which the pipe is substantially magnetically saturated; and
determining the thickness of said pipe from the measured time.

Abstract
A method for determining the thickness of a pipe by inserting a coil into the pipe and applying a voltage to the coil and measuring the time it takes for current in the coil to magnetically saturate the pipe and determining the thickness of the pipe from the measure time.
