- a first sensor medium including a first sensor area having a predetermined spatial shaping;
a second sensor medium including a second sensor area having a spatial shading which is the spatial derivative of the spatial shading of said first area;
said first and second spatially shaded areas being superimposed and coextensive along the sensing axis; and
a pair of electrodes about said first and second sensor mediums.
