1. An apparatus for delivering combustion product from an engine to an exhaust processor, the exhaust processor having an inlet and a predetermined minimum operating temperature, the apparatus comprisinga thin-walled pipe conducting hot combustion product from the engine to the inlet of the exhaust processor and having a thermal capacitance per unit length per unit diameter of less than 12,200 J/m2 ·

  • K to minimize the elapsed time during a cold start cycle of the engine until the inlet of the exhaust processor is heated by the combustion product to reach its predetermined minimum operating temperature, the thin-walled pipe including a plurality of serially connected pipe sections and means for slidably coupling adjacent pipe sections to one another to permit relative movement therebetween during thermal expansion of the pipe sections.
