1. An adhesive composition comprising a polyurethane resin and, as adhesion promoter, a compound of formula I:
- ##STR23## in which Z is an organic radical which is derived from an aliphatic, aromatic or heterocyclic polyisocyanate containing m+n isocyanate groups;
m is a value greater than or equal to 1;
n is a value greater than or equal to 0;
m+n is a value greater than or equal to 2;
Y is O or S;
X is O, S or N--C1 -C4 alkyl;
R1 is C1 -C8 alkylene;
R2 is C1 -C4 alkyl or two groups R2 together for m a C1 -C4 alkylene residue;
R3 is C1 -C4 alkyl or phenyl; and
q is a value from 0 to 2.
