1. A process for estimating the potentials at a number of points within an area of interest as a measure of underlying neural activity comprising the steps of:

  • measuring physiological potentials at a limited number of points within the area of interest by means of electrodes to yield electrical signals indicative thereof;

    the step of amplifying the electrical signals, yielding amplified signals; and

    the step of estimating the potential at each of an increased number of points over the area of interest by Kriging interpolation of the amplified signals.
