1. A method of investigating the state of corrosion of a surface of a metal member provided with a coating which comprises a polymeric material, said method including the following steps:

  • positioning a vibrating Kelvin type probe in spaced relationship at said coating, moving said Kelvin probe across said coated surface, and determining the potential between said metal and said probe during said movement.
