1. A method of manufacturing a pressure-sensitive electronic key or keyboard comprising the steps of:

  • providing a base layer having at least one first electrically conductive area;

    applying at least one thin layer of a fluid comprising an organic polymer and a particulate piezoelectric material as a precursor material onto said at least one first electrically conductive area;

    transforming said at least one thin layer of said precursor material into an essentially coherent and uniform solid film of a composite of said piezoelectric material embedded in a matrix of said organic polymer firmly adhering to said first electrically conductive area;

    forming a second electrically conductive area spaced from said first electrically conductive area by and firmly adhering to said solid film of composite of said piezoelectric material embedded in said matrix and bridging a space between said electrically conductive areas for providing at least one essentially monolithic piezoelectric element which firmly adheres to said base layer and comprises said solid film of said composite of said piezoelectric material embedded in said matrix with said first and second electrically conductive areas; and

    polarizing said piezoelectric material embedded in said matrix with respect to said first and second electrically conductive areas.
