1. A repeater adapted to be used in an electronic digital control network for monitoring and modifying a digital signal being transmitted through a transmission line in the network, the repeater comprising:

  • means for receiving the digital signal transmitted through the transmission line for input into the repeater;

    means for modifying the digital signal input from the receiving means for providing a modified signal, the modifying means including means for reclocking the digital signal to provide uniform bit cell times for reshaping the digital signal and means for amplifying the signal in response to the reclocking means to provide the modified signal; and

    means for transmitting the modified signal out from the repeater for continued transmission through the transmission line;

    wherein the reclocking means comprises;

    clocking means for providing a series of clock pulses;

    counting means responsive to the clocking means, the counting means being adapted for producing an output after a predetermined number of clock pulses of the clocking means; and

    a first storage means having at least a first input and a second input, the output of the counting means being fed to the first input of the first storage means and the digital signal being fed to the second input of the first storage means when the output of the counting means is fed to the first input of the first storage means.
