An organic electroluminescent device comprising in sequence an anode, an organic hole injecting and transporting zone, a doped luminescent zone, an electron transport zone and a cathode, characterized in that said doped luminescent zone is comprised of a fluorescent phthalocyanine compound capable of emitting a wavelength in the range of 660 to 780 nm wherein the phthalocyanine compound constitutes 0.01 to 3 vol. % of the doped luminescent zone.
