R⁴ is 2,5-dimethylphenyl, 2,5-dichloropehnyl, 2-methyl-5-chlorophenyl, 2,4-dimethylphenyl, 2-chloro-5-methylphenyl, 2,3,5-trimethylphenyl or 2-methyl-5-isopropylphenyl.

W=oxygen;

A is --O--, --S--, --OCH₂ --, --SCH₂ --, --CH═CH--, --CO--OCH₂ -- or --N(CH₃) --CH₂ --; methods for their preparation, agents containing them for combating injurious fungi and pests, and their use.

Claims

1. An α

-Phenylacrylic acid compound of the formula ##STR881## where the variables have the following meanings;

n is 1;

y is 1;

R¹ is methyl;

R² is methyl, ethyl or methoxymethyl;

R³ is hydrogen,

R⁴ is 2,5-dimethylphenyl, 2,5-dichlorophenyl, 2-methyl-5-chlorophenyl, 2,4-dimethylphenyl, 2-chloro-5-methylphenyl, 2,3,5-trimethylphenyl or 2-methyl-5-isopropylphenyl

W is oxygen;

A is --OCH₂ --.

2. An agent for combating injurious fungi, containing a fungicidally effective amount of a compound of the formula I as set forth in claim 1 and inert additives.

3. An agent for combating pests, containing inert additives and a pesticidally effective amount of a compound of the formula I as set forth in claim 1.
