Abstract

There is disclosed an apparatus for image reading or processing, that can precisely identify a particular pattern, such as of banknotes or securities faithful copying of which is to be prohibited. The apparatus is provided with a detecting unit for detecting positional information of an original image, and a discriminating unit for extracting the pattern data of a certain part of the original image and discriminating whether the original image is the predetermined image, based on the similarity between the pattern data and the predetermined pattern.

Claims

1. An image processing apparatus for controlling an image processing device based on a content of an input image so as to supply a control signal indicating whether the input image should be output faithfully, comprising:

input means for inputting a plurality of color component signals representing a color image, each color component signal having a multivalue for each pixel;

color reference means for storing color reference data defining a specific region of color space;

extracting means for extracting pattern data representing a figure of a predetermined color consisting of a plurality of color components by using the color reference data stored in said color reference means;

memory means for storing reference pattern data representing a predetermined figure;

comparing means for comparing the extracted pattern data with the reference pattern data stored in said memory means;

judging means for generating judgment data representing whether or not the color image represented by the color component signals includes the predetermined figure of the predetermined color on the basis of a comparison result of said comparing means; and

output means for outputting, on the basis of the judgment data, the control signal controlling the image processing device,

wherein the judging means generates judgment data to prevent the faithful output of the input color image in the case it is judged to be the predetermined figure of the predetermined color.

2. An apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the plurality of color component signals are read by an image reading apparatus which scans an original and generates the color component signal.

3. An apparatus according to claim 1, wherein said extracting means includes a window comparator for extracting the pattern data.

4. An apparatus according to claim 1, wherein said memory means comprises a ROM.

5. An apparatus according to claim 1, wherein said memory means stores the reference pattern data of a plurality of patterns.

6. An apparatus according to claim 1, further comprising image forming means for forming an image in accordance with the control signal output by said output means.

7. An image processing method for controlling an image processing device based on a content of an input image so as to supply a control signal indicating whether the input image should be output faithfully, comprising:

an input step for inputting a plurality of color component signals representing a color image, each color component signal having a multivalue for each pixel;

an extracting step for extracting pattern data representing a figure of a predetermined color consisting of a plurality of color components by using color reference data defining a specific region of color space;

a comparing step for comparing the extracted pattern data with the reference pattern data representing a predetermined figure stored in memory;

a judging step for generating judgment data representing whether or not the color image represented by the color component signals includes the predetermined figure of the predetermined color on the basis of a comparison result of said comparing step; and

an output step for outputting, on the basis of the judgment data, the control signal for controlling the image processing device to process image signals,

wherein, in the judging step, judgment data is generated to prevent the faithful output of the input color image in the case it is judged to be the predetermined figure of the predetermined color.

8. A method according to claim 7, wherein the plurality of color component signals are read by an image reading apparatus which scans an original and generates the color component signal.

9. A method according to claim 7, wherein a window comparator is used for extracting the pattern data in said extracting step.

10. A method according to claim 7, wherein the memory comprises a ROM.

11. A method according to claim 7, wherein the memory stores the reference pattern data of a plurality of patterns.

12. A method according to claim 7, further comprising an image forming step of forming an image in accordance with the control signal output in said output step.

20. A method according to claim 9, wherein the plurality of color component signals are read by an image reading apparatus which scans an original and generates the color component signal.

13. An image processing apparatus for controlling an image processing device based on a content of an input image so as to supply a control signal indicating whether the input image should be output faithfully, comprising:

input means for inputting a plurality of color component signals representing a color image, each color component signal having a multivalue for each pixel;

color reference means for storing color reference data defining a specific region of color space;

binarizing means for binarizing the color component signals and generating binary pattern data representing a figure of a predetermined color consisting of a plurality of color components by using the color reference data stored in said color reference means;

memory means for storing reference pattern data representing a predetermined figure;

comparing means for comparing the binarized binary pattern data with the reference pattern data stored in said memory means;

judging means for generating judgment data representing whether or not the color image represented by the color component signals includes the predetermined figure of the predetermined color on the basis of a comparison result of said comparing means; and

output means for outputting, on the basis of the judgment data, the control signal for controlling the image processing device,

wherein the judging means generates judgment data which prevents the faithful output of the input color image in the case it is judged to be the predetermined figure of the predetermined color.

14. An apparatus according to claim 13, wherein the plurality of color component signals are read by an image reading apparatus which scans an original and generates the color component signal.

15. An apparatus according to claim 13, wherein said binarizing means includes a window comparator for generating the binary pattern data.

16. An apparatus according to claim 13, wherein said memory means comprises a ROM.

17. An apparatus according to claim 13, wherein said memory means stores the reference pattern data of a plurality of patterns.

18. An apparatus according to claim 13, further comprising image forming means for forming an image in accordance with the control signal output by said output means.

29. An apparatus according to claim 15, wherein said memory means stores the reference pattern data of a plurality of patterns.

19. An image processing method for controlling an image processing device based on a content of an input image so as to supply a control signal indicating whether the input image should be output faithfully, comprising:

an input step for inputting a plurality of color component signals representing a color image, each color component signal having a multivalue for each pixel;

a binarizing step for binarizing the color component signals and generating binary pattern data representing a figure of a predetermined color consisting of a plurality of color components by using color reference data defining a specific region of color space;

a comparing step for comparing the binarized binary pattern data with the reference pattern data representing a predetermined figure stored in a memory means;

a judging step for generating judgment data representing whether or not the color image represented by the color component signals includes the predetermined figure of the predetermined color on the basis of a comparison result of said comparing step; and

an output step for outputting, on the basis of the judgment data, the control signal for controlling the image processing device,

wherein, in the judging step judgment data is generated to prevent the faithful output of the input color image in the case it is judged to be the predetermined figure of the predetermined color.

21. A method according to claim 19, wherein a window comparator is used for generating the binary pattern data in said binarizing step.

22. A method according to claim 19, wherein the memory means comprises a ROM.

23. A method according to claim 19, wherein the memory stores the reference pattern data of a plurality of patterns.

24. A method according to claim 19, further comprising an image forming step of forming an image in accordance with the control signal output in said output step.

25. An image processing apparatus for controlling an image processing device based on a content of an input image so as to supply a control signal indicating whether the input image should be output faithfully, comprising:

input means for inputting, in synchronism with a predetermined timing signal, a plurality of color component signals representing a color image, each color component signal having a multivalue for each pixel;

color reference means for storing color reference data defining a specific region of color space;

extracting means for extracting, in synchronism with the predetermined timing signal, pattern data representing a figure of a predetermined color consisting of a plurality of color components by using the color reference data stored in said color reference means;

memory means for storing reference pattern data representing a predetermined figure;

comparing means for comparing the extracted pattern data with the reference pattern data stored in said memory means;

judging means for generating judgment data representing whether or not the color image represented by the color component signals includes the predetermined figure of the predetermined color on the basis of a comparison result of said comparing means; and

output means for outputting, on the basis of the judgment data, the control signal for controlling the image processing device,

wherein the judging means generates judgment data to prevent the faithful output of the input color image in the case that it is judged to be the predetermined figure of the predetermined color.

26. An apparatus according to claim 25, wherein the plurality of color component signals are read by an image reading apparatus which scans an original and generates the color component signal.

27. An apparatus according to claim 25, wherein said extracting means includes a window comparator for extracting the pattern data.

28. An apparatus according to claim 25, wherein said memory means comprises a ROM.

30. An apparatus according to claim 25, further comprising image forming means for forming an image in accordance with the control signal output by said output means.

31. An image processing method for controlling an image processing device based on a content of an input image so as to supply a control signal indicating whether the input image should be output faithfully, comprising:

an input step for inputting, in synchronism with a predetermined timing signal, a plurality of color component signals representing a color image, each color component signal having a multivalue for each pixel;

an extracting step for extracting, in synchronism with the predetermined timing signal, pattern data representing a figure of a predetermined color consisting of a plurality of color components by using the color reference data defining a specific region of color space;

a comparing step for comparing the extracted pattern data with the reference pattern data representing a predetermined figure stored in a memory;

a judging step for generating judgment data representing whether or not the color image represented by the color component signals includes the predetermined figure of the predetermined color on the basis of a comparison result of said comparing step; and

an output step for outputting, on the basis of the judgment data, the control signal for controlling the image processing device,

wherein, in the judgment step, judgment data is generated to prevent the faithful output of the input color image in the case it is judged to be the predetermined figure of the predetermined color.

32. A method according to claim 31, wherein the plurality of color component signals are read by an image reading apparatus which scans an original and generates the color component signal.

33. A method according to claim 31, wherein a window comparator is used for extracting the pattern data in said extracting step.

34. A method according to claim 31, wherein the memory comprises a ROM.

35. A method according to claim 31, wherein the memory stores the reference pattern data of a plurality of patterns.

36. A method according to claim 31, further comprising an image forming step of forming an image in accordance with the control signal output in said output step.
