Abstract

An ink jet recording apparatus having a conveying unit for conveying a recording medium to be recorded on, a body unit including an ink containing unit mounting section for mounting an ink containing unit for containing ink to be supplied to a recording head and a cassette mounting section for mounting a cassette for supplying the recording medium. Also provided are a recording unit including a recording head mounting section for mounting the recording head, a carriage unit for moving the recording unit in a predetermined direction, a recovery unit for restoring an ink discharge function, an electrical power source unit for actuating the ink jet recording apparatus, and an electrical circuit unit for controlling the conveying unit, the recording unit, the carriage unit and the recovery unit. The recording head mounting section and electrical circuit unit are provided within the body unit and the ink containing unit mounting section is provided at a position lower than the recording head mounting section and below the electrical circuit unit.

Claims

1. An ink jet recording apparatus comprising:

a conveying unit including conveying means for conveying a recording medium to be recorded on;

a body unit including exchangeable ink containing unit mounting section for mounting an exchangeable ink containing unit for containing ink to be supplied to a recording head and a cassette mounting section for mounting a cassette for supplying the recording medium;

a recording unit including a recording head mounting section for mounting the recording head, said recording unit being provided for discharging ink and recording on the recording medium;

a carriage unit for moving said recording unit in a predetermined direction;

a recovery unit including means for restoring an ink discharge function in which ink is discharged from a discharge port of the recording head;

an electrical power source unit for actuating said ink jet recording apparatus; and

an electrical circuit unit having means for controlling said conveying unit, said recording unit, said carriage unit and said recovery unit,

wherein said recording head mounting section and said electrical circuit unit are provided in said body unit and said exchangeable ink containing unit mounting section is below said electrical circuit unit.

2. An apparatus according to claim 1, wherein said conveying unit includes a platen roller, a sheet supplying roller and a sheet feeding roller.

3. An apparatus according to claim 1, wherein said exchangeable ink containing unit mounting section includes a sensor for detecting absence and/or presence of the exchangeable ink containing unit.

4. An apparatus according to claim 1, wherein said cassette mounting section includes a sensor for detecting absence and/or presence of the cassette.

5. An apparatus according to claim 1, wherein said recovery unit includes a cap for covering said discharge port and a pump for generating negative pressure with said cap.

6. An ink jet recording apparatus comprising:

a conveying unit including conveying means for conveying a recording medium to be recorded on;

a body unit including an exchangeable ink containing unit mounting section for mounting an exchangeable ink containing unit for containing ink to be supplied to a recording head and a cassette mounting section for mounting a cassette for supplying the recording medium;

a recording unit including a recording head mounting section for mounting the recording head, said recording unit being provided for discharging ink and recording on the recording medium;

a carriage unit for moving said recording unit in a predetermined direction;

a recovery unit including means for restoring an ink discharge function in which ink is discharged from a discharge port of the recording head;

an electrical power source unit for actuating said ink jet recording apparatus; and

an electrical circuit unit having means for controlling said conveying unit, said recording unit, said carriage unit and said recovery unit,

wherein said units are provided within said body unit, and wherein said electrical power source unit and said electrical circuit unit are provided separate from said conveying exchangeable ink, said exchangeable ink containing unit mounting section, said recording unit, said recovery unit and said cassette mounting section, and wherein said exchangeable ink containing unit mounting section is provided at a position lower than said recording head mounting section and below said electrical circuit unit.

7. An apparatus according to claim 6, wherein said conveying unit includes a platen roller, a sheet supplying roller and a sheet feeding roller.

8. An apparatus according to claim 6, wherein said exchangeable ink containing unit mounting section includes a sensor for detecting absence and/or presence of the exchangeable ink containing unit.

9. An apparatus according to claim 6, wherein said cassette mounting section includes a sensor for detecting absence and/or presence of the cassette.

10. An apparatus according to claim 6, wherein said recovery unit includes a cap for covering the discharge port and a pump for generating negative pressure within said cap.

11. An ink jet recording apparatus comprising:

a conveying unit including conveying means for conveying a recording medium to be recorded on;

a body unit including an exchangeable ink containing unit mounting section for mounting an exchangeable ink containing unit for containing ink to be supplied to a recording head and a cassette mounting section for mounting a cassette for supplying the recording medium;

a recording unit including a recording head mounting section for mounting the recording head, said recording unit being provided for discharging ink and recording on the recording medium;

a carriage unit for moving said recording unit in a predetermined direction;

a recovery unit including means for restoring an ink discharge function in which ink is discharged from a discharge port of the recording head;

an electrical power source unit for actuating said ink jet recording apparatus; and

an electrical circuit unit having means for controlling said conveying unit, said recording unit, said carriage unit and said recovery unit,

wherein said units are provided within said body unit, and wherein said electrical power source unit and said electrical circuit unit are provided separate from said conveying unit, said exchangeable ink containing unit mounting section, said recording unit, said recovery unit and said cassette mounting section, and wherein said ink containing unit mounting section is provided at a position lower than said recording head mounting section and below said electrical circuit unit, and wherein an input terminal is provided at a rear portion of said body unit behind said electrical circuit unit and said electrical power source unit is provided at the rear portion of said body unit behind said recording unit.

12. An apparatus according to claim 11, wherein said conveying unit includes a platen roller, a sheet supplying roller and a sheet feeding roller.

13. An apparatus according to claim 11, wherein said exchangeable ink containing unit mounting section includes a sensor for detecting absence and/or presence of the ink containing unit.

14. An apparatus according to claim 11, wherein said cassette mounting section includes a sensor for detecting absence and/or presence of the cassette.

15. An apparatus according to claim 11, wherein said recovery unit includes a cap for covering the discharge port and a pump for generating negative pressure within said cap.
