  • a liquid pervious topsheet;

    a liquid impervious backsheet joined to said topsheet;

    an absorbent core positioned between said topsheet and said backsheet, said absorbent core having a body-facing face and a garment-facing face and comprising a mixture of absorbent gelling material and fibers, said fibers comprising a blend of cellulose fibers and liquid insensitive crimped synthetic fibers;

    an acquisition layer positioned between said topsheet and said absorbent core, said acquisition layer having a body-facing face and a garment-facing face and having crimped synthetic fibers distributed therein; and

    an intermediate layer positioned between said acquisition layer and said absorbent core, said intermediate layer having two sides, wherein one side of said intermediate layer is adhesively bonded to the garment-facing face of said acquisition layer and the other side of said intermediate layer is adhesively bonded to the body-facing face of said absorbent core, said adhesive bonding between said intermediate layer and said acquisition layer and said absorbent core being formed by an adhesive having a wet peel strength of greater than or equal to 10 g/in.;

    wherein the body-facing face of said acquisition layer is adhesively bonded to said topsheet and said garment-facing face of said absorbent core is adhesively bonded to said backsheet.
