1. A method for manufacturing a solid neuromuscular stimulator electrode comprising:
- forming a skeleton which includes a plurality of spaced conductive polymer sections, and a plurality of lead wires with a connector pin at an end of each lead wire, in which at least one connector pin is positioned within each of the conductive polymer sections;
placing the skeleton within an electrode mold; and
molding non-conductive polymer to the skeleton to form an integral electrode having an elongated body with the conductive polymer sections separated by non-conductive polymer sections, wherein molding non-conductive polymer to the skeleton comprises forming a handle at a first end of the body and a bulbous end at a second end of the body, the handle and bulbous end of the skeleton being formed from a first non-conductive polymer having a first durometer and the non-conductive polymer sections being formed from a second non-conductive polymer having a second durometer.

Abstract
A method for manufacturing an electrode comprises molding a plurality of spaced conductive sections which include a pin receptacle for receiving a connector pin of a wire harness. A skeleton of conductive sections, connector pins and lead wires are placed in a mold which defines the electrode. A non-conductive polymer is molded to the skeleton to form an integral electrode having a elongated body of conductive sections separated by non-conductive sections. Multiple durometer polymers may be used to achieve desired levels of flexibility of the electrode.

7. A neuromuscular stimulator electrode comprising:

an elongated contoured body including a plurality of spaced conductive sections molded from a conductive polymer; a plurality of non-conductive sections interposed between the conductive sections, wherein the non-conductive sections are molded from a first non-conductive polymer; a handle extending from a first end of the elongated contoured body and a bulbous end extending from a second end of the elongated contoured body, wherein the handle and bulbous end are molded from a second non-conductive polymer different from the first non-conductive polymer; and a wire harness extending from the handle. - View Dependent Claims (8, 9, 10)

11. A method of making an electrode comprising:

positioning a wire harness in a first mold which defines a plurality of spaced conductive polymer sections, the wire harness comprising a plurality of wire leads; introducing a conductive polymer into the first mold to form a skeleton comprising the plurality of spaced conductive polymer sections and the plurality of wire leads, wherein at least one of the plurality of wire leads is positioned within each of the conductive polymer sections; positioning the skeleton in a second mold; and introducing a non-conductive polymer into the second mold to form an integral electrode body having alternating conductive polymer sections and non-conductive polymer sections. - View Dependent Claims (12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17)
