Novel conjugate of the general formula
A--L.sub.1 --L.sub.2 --B
wherein A and B are the substances to be coupled selected from the groups of haptens, proteins, polysaccharides, soluble polystyrenes, or peptides, L1 and L2 are trivalent linkers and L1 and L2 are bound via two thioether. They can be used in immunological assays and exhibit an improved storage stability.

- 5. A method for producing a conjugate of the formula

wherein A and B are substances to be coupled and are selected from the group consisting of haptens, proteins, peptides, polysaccharides and polystyrene, and L1 and L2 are trivalent linkers, wherein L1 and L2 are linked to each other by two thioether bonds, comprising the steps of linking a first substance A to be coupled to a homobidental, trifunctional linker L1 containing two maleinimido groups to form AL1, linking a second substance B to be coupled to a homobidental, trifunctional linker L2 containing two thiol groups to form BL2, and reacting the thiol groups of BL2 with the maleinimido groups of AL2 to form two thioether bonds linking AL1 to BL2. - View Dependent Claims (6, 7, 8, 9)
