1. A combination comprising:
- a bicycle comprising a frame and a pathway illuminating light;
an open skeletal cage mounted by fasteners to the frame and entirely open at one end at all times;
a portable source of electrical power comprising a longitudinal axis, terminals free of contact with the cage and at least one exterior side surface removably force compression-fit transverse to said longitudinal axis into tight compressively contiguous relation with the skeletal cage so that (a) the terminals are adjacent to the entirely open end of the cage, (b) the one side surface is subjected to transverse force holding the power source in the cage and (c) the one side surface is also substantially exposed to the atmosphere, the terminals being electrically connected to the pathway-illuminating light.

Abstract
An illumination system for a mountain bicycle is disclosed. The disclosed system comprises a long-term, high power battery pack encapsulated in an impervious jacket of compressible material, which combination is reliably and securely compression-fit into an open water bottle cage, in lieu of a water bottle, and electrically connected to a source of artificial light.

4. A combination comprising:
-
a bicycle comprising a frame and a pathway-illuminating light; an open-ended undersized receptacle mounted to the frame; a unitary electrical power source comprising a longitudinal axis and a pack of interconnecting batteries surrounded by a permanent compressible jacket from which the batteries cannot be removed and formed of a material removable force-fit into the open undersized receptacle so that external surface locations of the jacket are contiguously compressed substantially transverse of said longitudinal axis, the source of electrical power comprising terminals free from contact with the receptacle; electrical conductors interposed between the battery terminals and the light.

5. A combination comprising:
-
a bicycle comprising a frame and a source of pathway illumination; an open cradle mounted to the frame the cradle being entirely open at one end; a source of power comprising a longitudinal axis and at least one battery contiguously permanently non-removably encapsulated by a surrounding jacket removably press-fit transverse to said longitudinal axis contiguously, restraining and yet removably into the open cradle so that a substantial portion of an external surface of the jacket is atmospherically exposed and conductors electrically connecting the battery to the source of illumination without electrical contact with the receptacle.

6. A combination comprising:
-
a bicycle comprising a frame and a light by which a bicycle pathway is illuminated; an undersized receptacle mounted to the frame; a portable source of electrical power permanently and non-removably encapsulated in a jacket of compressible material force-fit contiguously and removably into the receptacle so that portions of the jacket engaged by the receptacle are dimensionally compressed generally transverse of a longitudinal axis of said source of power such that said compression comprises a restraining grip; conductors electrically connecting the source of power to the light without contact with the cradle.
