1. A pump cassette usable with a clinical pump for delivering a plurality of fluids comprising:
- (a) a first valved cassette inlet for receiving a first fluid;
(b) a second valved cassette inlet for receiving a second fluid;
(c) a common fluid outlet for conveying a combined flow of said first and second fluids;
(d) a common inlet path communicating with said first and second valved cassette inlets;
(e) separate first and second valved pump flow paths communicating with said common inlet path;
(f) first and second pump chambers communicating with, respectively, said first and second valved pump flow paths, each of said chambers having a deformable wall for varying the chamber volume; and
(g) first and second valved outlet paths communicating with said common fluid outlet.

Abstract
A disposable cassette for a cardioplegia system for delivering cardioplegic solution to the heart during open heart surgery in cooperation with an extracorporeal blood circuit employing a heart/lung machine, includes a conduit diverting a portion of the blood flow from the heart/lung machine to a cardioplegia delivery line. A heat exchanger for controlling fluid temperature is provided in the cardioplegia delivery line. A first pump combines the blood from the conduit with a second fluid and delivers the combined flow into the delivery line leading to the heat exchanger. A control panel is operatively connected for adjusting the ratio of blood and second fluid delivered by the first pump and for adjusting the total volumetric rate of flow from the first pump.

2. A disposable pump cassette for removable insertion into a clinical pump mechanism for delivering a combined flow of blood from a heart/lung machine and at least one other fluid during open heart surgery, said disposable pump cassette comprising:

a first inlet path for receiving said blood fluid; a second inlet path for receiving said at least one other fluid; a first inlet valve site interposed along said first inlet path, activatable for opening or closing said first inlet path; (d) a second inlet valve site interposed along said second inlet path; (e) a first pumping chamber; (f) a common inlet path communicating between said first and second inlet paths and said first pumping chamber for receiving said blood and said at least one other fluid, in combination, and for conducting said combined flow to said first pumping chamber; (g) an outlet from said first pumping chamber; (h) a second pumping chamber; (i) said common inlet path communicating between said first and second inlet paths, and said first pumping chamber and said second pumping chamber; (j) a first valve site interposed along said common inlet path between said first and second inlet paths and said first pumping chamber, activatable to open or close said common inlet path for controlling flow into and out of said first pumping chamber through said common inlet path; and (k) a second valve site interposed along said common inlet path between said first and second inlet paths and said second pumping chamber, activatable to open or close said common inlet path for controlling flow into and out of said second pumping chamber through said common inlet path. - View Dependent Claims (3)

(a) a first inlet path for receiving said blood fluid; (b) a second inlet path for receiving said at least one other fluid; (c) a first inlet valve site interposed along said first inlet path, activatable for opening or closing said first inlet path; (d) a second inlet valve site interposed along said second inlet path; (e) a plurality of pumping chambers; (f) a common inlet path communicating between said first and second inlet paths and each of said plurality of pumping chambers for receiving said blood and said at least one other fluid, in combination, and for conducting said combined flow to each of said pumping chambers; (g) a plurality of valve sites interposed along said common inlet path selectively activatable to open or close said common inlet path at each of said plurality of valve sites for controlling flow to each of said plurality of pumping chambers through said common inlet path; and (h) an outlet from said plurality of pumping chambers.
