1. A voltage multiplier circuit for providing charge to a load and configured to receive a first and a second clock signal, said first and second clock signals being out of phase with respect to each other, and each having one of a first and a second voltage value, comprising:

  • a first stage coupled to receive the first clock signal and to store a first charge corresponding to a voltage difference between the first and second voltage values when the first clock signal is at the first voltage value, and to output the first charge when the first clock signal is at the second voltage value;

    a second stage coupled to receive the second clock signal and coupled to the first stage for receiving the first charge, said second stage being configured to store a second charge corresponding to two times a voltage difference between the first and second voltage values when the first clock signal is at the first voltage value, and to output the second charge when the second clock signal is at the second voltage value;

    an output capacitor coupled to receive the second charge from the second stage; and

    a feedback diode coupled to the output capacitor, a reference potential and the first stage, wherein when the first clock signal is at the second voltage value, a feedback charge proportional to an amount of charge drawn off the output capacitor by the load is sent to recharge the first stage via the feedback diode.
