1. An analog memory system comprising:
- an optical lens projecting an illumination image;
an analog image memory storing analog image signals, the analog image memory being coupled to receive the illumination image projected by the optical lens and writing the analog image signals into the analog image memory in response to the received illumination image;
a refresh circuit coupled to the analog image memory and refreshing the analog image signals stored by the analog image memory;
an analog to digital converter coupled to receive analog image signals stored by the analog image memory, the analog to digital converter generating digital image signals in response to the received analog image signals;
a two dimensional frequency domain transform processor coupled to receive digital image signals generated by the analog to digital converter, the two dimensional frequency domain transform processor generating transformed two dimensional frequency domain image information in response to the received digital image signals;
an output memory storing output two dimensional frequency domain image information; and
an output memory writing circuit coupled to receive transformed two dimensional frequency domain image information generated by the two dimensional frequency domain transform processor and coupled to the output memory, the output memory writing circuit writing output two dimensional frequency domain image information into the output memory in response to the received transformed two dimensional frequency domain image information.

Abstract
An optical system is provided having an analog image memory, an analog refresh circuit, and an analog converter. An optical image is projected on an analog memory, such as a CCD array, generating analog image signal samples in the analog memory. The analog charge signal samples can be shifted in the array and can be processed with an analog to digital converter to generate digital signal samples. The digital signal samples can be processed with a digital processor, such as a digital transform processor to generate frequency domain information. The frequency domain information can be stored in an output memory and can be communicated to a remote location. An image can be displayed in response to the stored analog image signal samples or in response to the frequency domain information.
