1. A system for enabling the measurement of core body temperature of a subject in vivo, comprising:

  • a temperature sensing device for sensing a temperature-related parameter of the subject and generating a first signal representative of said temperature-related parameter;

    a respiratory gas sensing device for sensing a respiration-related parameter of the subject and generating a second signal representative of said respiration-related parameter; and

    a signal correlation device connected to said temperature and said respiratory gas sensing devices for determining from said second signal an optimal time interval for measurement of a core body temperature of the subject and obtaining from said first signal a value for said core body temperature during said optimal time interval, wherein said temperature sensing device is a temperature-sensitive dye.
