1. Flow control means associated with a soil-based waste water purifying installation containing a soil-based filter bed, which has a predetermined hydraulic throughput capacity and through which waste water is passed for purification, and further containing an inlet receiving a waste water inflow to be purified and communicating with the soil-based filter bed, said flow control means comprising:

  • inflow control means associated with the inlet for substantially evening out variations existing in the waste water inflow received by said inlet, said inflow control means controlling said waste water inflow in direct dependence upon the hydraulic throughput capacity of the soil-based filter bed; and

    buffer means connected to said inlet for taking up excess waste water exceeding the hydraulic throughput capacity of the soil-based filter bed, said buffer means comprising;

    a buffer reservoir;

    a pump operatively associated with said buffer reservoir;

    an infeed control leading from said pump to said inlet; and

    return means, leading from said inlet to said buffer reservoir, for returning excess waste water, which exceeds the hydraulic throughput capacity of the soil-based filter bed, from said inlet to said buffer reservoir.
