1. An apparatus for registering a sheet in a path, comprising:

  • an idler member located in the path; and

    a drive member in circumferential contact along substantially its entire length with said idler member to form a nip therebetween, said drive member being non-cylindrical, so that the effective velocity of said drive member at a first edge and a second edge of the sheet path, which first edge and second edge are toward an outer portion of the sheet path, is greater than an effective velocity of the drive member at a location between said first edge and said second edge at a location toward a center of the sheet path.
