1. The compound of Formula I ##STR21## wherein B is a base selected from the group consisting of xanthine, hypoxanthine, 8-bromoguanine, 8-chloroguanine, 8-aminoguanine, 8-hydrazinoguanine, 8-hydroxyguanine, 8-methylguanine, 8-thioguanine, 2-aminopurine, 2,6-diaminopurine, and 2-amino-6-methoxyethoxypurine;
- alk1 is C1-4 alkylene;
alk2 is independently selected from a chemical bond and C1-4 alkylene;
alk3 is a chemical bond;
Q and R2 are hydrogen;
R1 is independently selected from hydrogen and C1-4 alkyl and wherein one of R1 or alk2 are C1-4 alkyl or C1-4 alkylene respectively;
R3 and R4 are independently selected from hydrogen, C1-6 alkyl, phenyl, and phenyl-C1-4 -alkylene;
and the corresponding salts, and solvates thereof;
provided, however, that when B is 2-amino-6-methoxyethoxypurine then R3 and R4 are ethyl, alk2 is a bond, R1 is H and alk1 --C(R1)(alk2 Q)-alk3 is 1,3 propylene or 1,4 butylene.
