an ultrasonic transducer positioned in a pool of liquid to interface the reduced velocity gas flow; and

at least one plate extending substantially across said humidifying chamber above said ultrasonic transducer, said plate dividing the chamber into at least two subchambers, said plate providing at least one aperture for permitting the passage of a substantially vertically extending fluid finger produced by the ultrasonic transducer, said inlet port permitting entry of the gas flow above and below said plate.
