A detector for theft prevention comprising a box attached in contact with an object of theft prevention, and a switch provided for this box for detecting whether it is detached from said object of theft prevention,wherein said switch provided for said box has a pivotable operated portion biased to return to a position projecting from a surface contacting said object of theft prevention, andsaid operated portion is pivotable in a plurality of directions including at least two opposite directions, one of said opposite directions being a direction projecting from a surface of said box and the other of said opposite directions being a direction retracting from the surface, and a third direction different from the opposite directions,wherein said switch further includes an elastic member disposed downwardly of the operated portion for effecting pivotal movement of the operated portion in the projecting and retracting directions.
