1. A liquid crystal display apparatus, comprising:

  • a liquid crystal panel comprising a liquid crystal disposed between a pair of substrates each provided with electrodes,a backlight for illuminating the liquid crystal panel,a diffusion plate disposed between the backlight and the liquid crystal panel for diffusing light from the backlight, anda housing bearing a supporting member via an interposed elastic member, said supporting member having an opening and supporting the liquid crystal panel, the backlight and the diffusion plate,the liquid crystal panel being affixed to the supporting member so as to cover one side of the opening and the diffusion plate being affixed to the supporting member so as to cover another side of the opening, andwherein the diffusion plate is disposed in the vicinity of the liquid crystal panel so as to define an almost closed space in combination with the supporting member and the liquid crystal panel.
