Paperboard container with indicia tabs
First Claim
1. A wrapper for a food product, said wrapper formed from a unitary blank of paperboard, said wrapper having first and second sections folded together about at least one fold axis, said first and second sections each having respective aligned peripheries which are releasably securable together, whereby two exterior and two interior wrapper surfaces are defined by said first and second wrapper sections, and whereby a space for a food product is defined within said folded wrapper, the improvement comprising, said periphery of said first of said sections having an outwardly extending and foldable indicia tab, a first surface of said indicia tab being normally coextensive with said first section exterior surface, a second surface of said indicia tab having a cohesive layer thereon and being normally coextensive with said first section interior surface, said indicia tab being foldable substantially 180 degrees, said indicia tab normally covering a first indicia on said interior surface of said second wrapper section, said indicia tab first surface having a second indicia thereon, whereby said wrapper normally displays said second indicia, and whereby said indicia tab can be folded substantially 180 degrees prior to folding said wrapper so that said cohesive layer on said indicia tab will attach to said interior surface and maintain said indicia tab folded, whereby upon folding said wrapper sections said first indicia will be exposed and said second indicia will not be exposed, whereby different indicia configurations may be displayed.

Abstract
An indicia tab construction for a paperboard food wrapper or container. In one embodiment a peripheral indicia tab is foldable about a lateral axis to assume one of two configurations, and is held in a folded configuration by a cohesive layer. In a second embodiment each of a plurality of peripheral indicia tabs is foldable about respective aligned axes and is also held in folded configurations by respective cohesive layers. In a third embodiment one or more foldable indicia tabs are attached to the periphery of one half of a foldable food wrapper, each tab provided with a legend or other indicia normally viewable. These tabs may be, selectively, folded so as to uncover other legends or indicia, normally covered, on the other wrapper half.

- 3. An indicia tab construction for a food container, said container formed from a unitary paperboard blank, said container having an open position for accepting a food item and a closed position at least substantially enclosing a food item, said container having a main fold axis for folding said container from an open to a closed position, a foldable indicia tab on a peripheral portion of said container, said foldable indicia tab having a bend axis to permit its folding from a normal position to a substantially 180 degree folded position, a first cohesive layer on one surface portion of said foldable indicia tab, a second cohesive layer on one surface portion of said container, said second cohesive portion located as a mirror image of said first cohesive layer relative to said bend axis, a second indicia zone on a portion of said container, said second indicia zone located homologously with respect to said first indicia tab on an opposite side of said fold axis, whereby when said container is in its closed position a first indicia on one surface of said foldable indicia tab is visible and whereby said first indicia tab may be folded about its said fold axis to uncover said second indicia zone to expose a second indicia on said second indicia zone.

5. An indicia tab construction particularly adapted for a paperboard food container having a peripheral portion, a plurality of tabs formed from said paperboard food container and extending outwardly from said peripheral portion, an integral hinge on each said tab joining each said tab to said periphery, said tabs each having respective first and second opposite tab surfaces, said tabs each being foldable substantially 180 degrees about said respective integral hinges from a normal position to a second position, means for adhesively releasably securing said each said tab in respective said substantially 180 degree folded positions, an indicia on each said tab first surface, a cohesive layer on each said tab second surface, whereby each said tab can be folded back and held back by said cohesive surface, to thereby present different indicia to a viewer.
