1. A detection device for arrangement in a groove provided in an upper portion of a road to produce data relating to the passage of a vehicle, said detection device comprising:

  • a. an elongated substantially-rigid first body comprising an inorganic material and having a longitudinally-extending cavity with a predefined cross-sectional shape having predetermined dimensions;

    b. a coaxial piezoelectric cable disposed at a predetermined position in the cavity; and

    c. a preformed, elongated, substantially-rigid second body comprising an inorganic material and slidably fitted into the cavity, said second body being shaped and dimensioned such that it fills the cavity above the cable.
