1. An insole suitable for use in different size articles of footwear the insole including an arcuate removable portion located around at least one of a toe end and a heel end of the insole to enable the length of the insole to be decreased by removal of said portion, the insole including upper and lower sheets adhered together peripherally and defining therebetween shock-absorbing air chamber means wherein said removable portion is sealed from the air chamber means, wherein the air chamber means comprises a plurality of intercommunicating air chambers and the removable portion comprises a separate arcuate air chamber sealed from said plurality of chambers, the insole with said air chamber attached defining the shape of a larger one of said articles of footwear, the insole with said air chamber removed defining the shape of a smaller one of said articles of footwear.
