1. An iron-type golf club head having a metallic head body with a shaft attaching portion at one side thereof and a face at a front side thereof, said face being formed with adjacent score lines thereon, which comprises:

  • a rear surface opposite to said face, said rear surface being formed with a plurality of cavities by forging, wherein forging of said cavities provides grain flows adjacent said cavities, each cavity having a substantially flat bottom area and having at least one inclined side surface extending from said bottom area, wherein the bottom area only is completely disposed within an area opposite to an area between the aforesaid adjacent score lines.
