1. A method of establishing telecommunications between a point-of-sale communications device and a validation computer by using a telecommunications network comprised of a first network and a second network, the method comprising the steps of:

  • configuring the device to transmit a first telecommunications number associated with the second network when the device is activated, and to transmit a second telecommunications number associated with the validation computer after transmitting the first telecommunications number;

    activating the device, and as a result, transmitting the first telecommunications number to the first network;

    establishing a first connection in the first network from the device to the second network using the first telecommunications number transmitted by the device and without using a dedicated line;

    transmitting the second telecommunications number from the device over the first connection to the second network after the first connection has been established; and

    establishing a second connection initiated in the second network from the first network to the validation computer using the second telecommunications number so as to complete the telecommunications from the device to the validation computer.
