    a block counting means for counting the number of blocks in said audio signal when said comparison means determines that the level of said audio signal is lower than said predetermined level;

    a judging means for determining whether or not the number of blocks in said audio signal to be recorded onto said recording medium with a level lower than said predetermined level is greater than a predetermined value on the basis of contents of said block counting means; and

    a recording control means for controlling a recording means in such a way that, when said judging means determines that the number of blocks in said audio signal to be recorded onto said recording medium with a level lower than said predetermined level is greater than said predetermined value, said audio signal with a level lower than said predetermined level is written over an already recorded location on said recording medium till the level of said audio signal supplied to said level detecting means becomes higher than said predetermined level.
