1. A self-expanding implantable tubular medical stent device, comprising;
- a catheter carrying a stent, said stent being elastically compressed to a small diameter for delivery into a body and capable of being elastically expanded to a larger diameter, said stent being formed of metal wire configured to substantially define a tube when said stent is expanded to said larger diameter, said wire composed of a core and a sheath surrounding said core, said core being formed of a first metal and said sheath being formed of a second metal, the first metal having greater density than the second metal and the second metal having greater elasticity than the first metal.

Abstract
A tubular prosthesis device for use within the body. The device includes, a metal filament material formed of metal outer member having an exposed outer surface and a core within the extended outer member formed of a different metal than the outer member. The core is secured within and substantially enclosed by the outer member. The device can be reduced to a small size for introduction into the body lumen and expandable to a sufficiently large size to engage the wall of the body lumen. Stents formed of composite wires are shown.
