Organic light emitting device partially or completely encapsulated by a transparent or semi-transparent stack of encapsulation layers which at least comprisesa buffer layer comprising Siloxane situated on and forming a conformal contact with said organic light emitting device, anda second layer attached to said buffer layer and being arranged such thatit adheres to said buffer layer, andis separated from said organic light emitting device by said buffer layer.

An organic light emitting device (10) is provided which is encapsulated by a Siloxane buffer layer (17.1). This Siloxane buffer layer (17.1) is applied to the diode (10) providing for protection against contamination, degradation, oxidation and the like. The Siloxane buffer layer (17.1) carries at least a second encapsulation layer (17.2).
