First Claim
1. A fluid manifold for use in infusing medical fluids, comprising:
- a housing having a first upstream inlet and a downstream outlet and at least one retrograde flow checked inlet intermediate the first upstream inlet and the outlet, and a plurality of valve seats, each such valve seat associated with an inlet, and a chamber interconnecting the inlets and the outlet;
a single resilient backcheck member confined within the chamber and deformably urged against at least one retrograde flow checked valve seat and providing individual check valve action at each of the plurality of valve seats, said resilient backcheck member having a backcheck flapper portion positioned adjacent said first upstream inlet, and retrograde flow through said first upstream inlet is prevented by closure of said backcheck flapper portion against a valve seat around said first upstream inlet, and wherein the housing comprises at least one support member disposed to urge the resilient backcheck member against at least one valve seat.

Abstract
A fluid manifold includes a housing having a first inlet and an outlet and a plurality of inlets intermediate the first inlet and the outlet which are provided with check valve action to prevent retrograde flow through the valved inlets, yet allow individual inlets to pass fluid when the fluid pressure in any individual inlet exceeds that of the interior of the chamber by a predetermined cracking pressure, and retrograde flow through the first inlet is controlled by a flapper portion which may be biased to an open position to allow unrestricted flow from the first inlet to the outlet or configured so as to be in sealing contact with a valve seat in order to preferentially inhibit flow.

1. A fluid manifold for use in infusing medical fluids, comprising:

a housing having a first upstream inlet and a downstream outlet and at least one retrograde flow checked inlet intermediate the first upstream inlet and the outlet, and a plurality of valve seats, each such valve seat associated with an inlet, and a chamber interconnecting the inlets and the outlet; a single resilient backcheck member confined within the chamber and deformably urged against at least one retrograde flow checked valve seat and providing individual check valve action at each of the plurality of valve seats, said resilient backcheck member having a backcheck flapper portion positioned adjacent said first upstream inlet, and retrograde flow through said first upstream inlet is prevented by closure of said backcheck flapper portion against a valve seat around said first upstream inlet, and wherein the housing comprises at least one support member disposed to urge the resilient backcheck member against at least one valve seat. - View Dependent Claims (2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10)

11. A fluid manifold for use in infusing medical fluids having a chamber formed therein, and a flowstream therethrough directed from a first upstream inlet to a downstream outlet, comprising:

a first housing member incorporating a normally open first upstream inlet and a plurality of normally closed retrograde flow checked inlets disposed between said first upstream inlet and said outlet, and inlet valve seats disposed about each inlet; a second housing member sealingly coupled to the first housing member incorporating a plurality of support members positioned opposite and centrally to the normally closed retrograde flow checked inlets, and said housing incorporating at least one deformation stud positioned adjacent said first upstream inlet, and incorporating said outlet positioned downstream of the support members; a resilient backcheck member confined between the first and second housing members, having a backcheck flapper portion adjacent said first upstream inlet having an open position displaced from said first housing member so that said first upstream inlet is open to said chamber, and a second position in sealing contact with said first housing member about said most upstream inlet to prevent retrograde flow through said most upstream inlet;
wherein said support members urge the resilient backcheck member against the valve seats disposed about each normally closed retrograde flow checked inlet and in sealing contact therewith to provide a backcheck action to prevent retrograde flow into said normally closed retrograde flow checked inlets and yet independently allow downstream flow through each of the individual normally closed retrograde flow checked inlets, and wherein said deformation stud deforms said resilient backcheck member so as to cause said backcheck flapper portion of said resilient backcheck member to be biased to said first position whereby said most upstream inlet is normally open. - View Dependent Claims (12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21)

22. A fluid manifold for use in intravenous infusion applications adapted for fluid flow therethrough in a direction from a normally open upstream inlet at an upstream end to a downstream outlet at a downstream end, comprising:

a) a first inlet housing member having an upstream end, and a plurality of sequentially disposed inlets downstream thereof having annular valve seats including said first normally open upstream inlet and a plurality of retrograde flow checked inlets, and a plurality of alignment studs for locating a resilient backcheck member; b) a second housing member sealingly mated to the first housing member having support members for urging a resilient backcheck member against the annular valve seats of the retrograde flow checked inlets, and a deformation member which compresses and deforms the resilient backcheck member when the first inlet housing member and the second housing member are joined; c) a resilient backcheck member adapted to be disposed on the alignment studs of the first housing member and which is urged against and sealingly abuts the valve seats of the retrograde flow checked inlets embodied in the first housing member by the supporting members embodied in the second housing member to provide individual retrograde flow control to each of the retrograde flow checked inlets by allowing fluid flow past the individual annular valve seats of a particular individual retrograde flow controlled inlet into the chamber only when fluid pressure in that individual retrograde flow controlled inlet exceeds that of the chamber by a preselected cracking pressure, said resilient backcheck member having a backcheck flapper portion including a hinge portion and a surface defining an alignment hole, said backcheck flapper portion being aligned with said normally open upstream inlet and connected to the remainder of the resilient backcheck member by a narrowing portion, said backcheck flapper portion being biased to a position away from the valve seat disposed about said first normally open upstream inlet, wherein the upstream and downstream housing members have inner surfaces that form a chamber within the manifold housing that directs a fluid flowstream through the manifold from the normally open upstream inlet to the downstream outlet into flushing contact with the resilient backcheck member and valve seats of the retrograde flow checked inlets.
