1. A method of reducing H2 S in a hydrocarbon fluid which comprises contacting the fluid with an effective amount of a scavenging composition, comprising an aqueous solution of(a) a 1,3,5-trimethyl-hexahydro-1,3,5 triazine H2 S scavenger;

  • and(b) a quaternary ammonium compound having the following formula;

    ##STR5## where R1 and R2 are independently alkyl groups or hydroxyalkyl groups having from 1 to 4 carbon atomsR3 is a benzyl group, andR4 is an alkyl or aryl group having from 7 to 20 carbon atoms, andX- is an anion selected from the group consisting of chloride and methyl sulfate;

    wherein the amount of the quaternary ammonium compound is sufficient to accelerate the H2 S scavenging action of the 1,3,5-trimethyl-hexahydro-1,3,5 triazine in comparison with the scavenging action of said triazine without the quaternary ammonium compound.
