1. A method of determining antagonist activity of a compound for a hormone receptor of the steroid hormone superfamily, comprising the steps of:

  • combining said compound with said hormone receptor in vitro so as to induce a conformational change in said receptor, anddigesting said receptor with a proteolytic enzyme to detect said conformational change in said receptor, thereby measuring whether said compound is an antagonist of said receptor wherein the agonist-receptor fragment produced by the method is always greater than the antagonist receptor fragment.
