1. An optical information processing apparatus, comprising:

  • a laser diode;

    a first optical element having at least one of a prism, a grating, and a cylindrical lens, for deflecting a light beam projected from said laser diode along a direction substantially perpendicular to a surface of an information recording medium, and also for expanding the light beam in one direction at a cross section perpendicular to a light beam traveling direction; and

    a second optical element having at least one of a prism, a grating, and a cylindrical lens, for expanding the light beam in another direction at a cross section perpendicular to another light beam traveling direction; and

    wherein one of said first and second optical elements causes a light beam expansion magnification along a short axial direction of an elliptical-shaped light intensity distribution in a far-field image of the light beam projected from said laser diode which is greater than a light beam expansion magnification of the other of said first and second optical elements along a long axial direction of said intensity distribution.
