1. A method of preparing a detergent or cleaner, comprising polycondensing aspartic acid in the presence of phosphoric acid in a molar ratio of from 1:

  • 0.05 to 1;

    10 at temperatures of at least 120°

    C. to give polysuccinimide, and subsequently hydrolyzing the polysuccinimide with bases to give at least partially neutralized polyaspartic acid, and adding said partially neutralized polyaspartic acid to detergents or cleaners in amounts of from 0.1 to 10% by weight based on the detergents and cleaners.
