1. A telecommunications system comprising:
- a network of elements providing functions to enable communications between elements;
each element including resources of hardware and software that are used to perform the functions, the software including objects representing the resources;
at least one operations system for performing the functions, in addition to setting up calls, having means for managing the resources according to a first management information model using the objects, wherein the elements offer the operations system a standardized service specific "black box" view of only the parts of the resources that are available and needed for communication between the elements and connected subscribers,wherein at least one element includes several nodes, forming part of an internal system of the element, for providing functions in an internal bearer network service, and internal resources hardware and software for performing internal functions, the internal software including objects representing the internal resources andthe at least one element offers an operations system a "white box" view, wherein the internal resources are available to the operations system to manage the internal resources using the objects according to a second management information model, when using internal resources to perform the internal functions,wherein the second management information model is implemented as an addition to the first management model anda management information tree, based upon the second management information model, has in its root a managed object which is also used for management according to the first information model, and a management information tree, based upon the second management information model, has in its root a managed object which is also used for management according to the first information model.

A network element included in a telecommunication system contains several nodes (1226, 1232, 1234, 1236, 1238) which are included in a system internal to this network element and provides internal network element functions in an internal bearer service network, and internal resources in the form of hardware and software which are used for performing the internal network element functions.
The network element can offer an operations system a "white box" view, implying that internal resources are available to this operations system, enabling it to use managed objects representing the internal resources in order to manage the resources according to a second management information model in connection with using them for performing internal network element functions.
