1. A tool for inserting a filter element into a pneumatic wheel assembly comprising a circular rim for attachment to a rotatable hub of a vehicle, and an annular tire attached to the rim, the rim and tire defining an interior volume capable of being pressurized to support the vehicle, the wheel assembly further comprising a valve assembly including a tubular valve stem having an internal passage in fluid communication with the interior volume of the wheel assembly and a sealing valve adapted for positioning within the valve stem passage for selectively permitting fluid to enter and exit said interior volume through the valve stem passage, said tool comprising:

  • a body having a first passage therein defining a plunger passage, said body being selectively attachable to the valve stem in a position wherein said plunger passage is in communication with the valve stem passage;

    a plunger mounted on the body for reciprocation with respect to said plunger passage through a forward stroke in which the plunger is adapted to move through the plunger passage to push a filter element therein into said valve stem passage before the sealing valve is positioned in the valve stem passage, said plunger then being movable back through a return stroke from the valve stem passage into the plunger passage;

    the body having a second passage therein defining a fluid passage adapted for fluid communication with a source of fluid under pressure, said fluid passage being adapted for fluid communication with said valve stem passage when the body is attached to said valve stem whereby fluid under pressure may be delivered to said interior volume via said valve stem passage.
