1. A spread spectrum communication synchronization apparatus for use with a spread spectrum signal comprising:

  • sampling means for sampling a received spread spectrum signal during a symbol period, said received signal modulated by data and having a spreading code, correlating means for correlating the sampled received signal from said sampling means and providing a correlated signal, detecting means for detecting an envelope of the correlated signal and generating a plurality of sample positions based on said symbol period, peak detecting means for detecting a peak position which corresponds to one of said plurality of sample positions corresponding to a largest magnitude during said symbol period, window setting means for setting and holding a symbol period window based on the peak position detected by said peak detecting means; and

sample position memory means coupled to said detecting means for storing said plurality of sample positions.
