1. A method of forming a aqueous dispersion of a crosslinked silicon-modified organic polymer comprising:
- forming a premixture comprising;
a) 100 weight parts of silicon-modified organic polymer,b) 0.5 to 10 weight parts surfactant andc) 0.5 to 1000 weight parts water;
agitating the premixture to form an emulsion; and
facilitating the crosslinking of the silicon-modified organic polymer in the emulsion;
wherein, the silicon-modified organic polymer is an organic polymer having a viscosity of 5 to 500 Pa.s, a glass transition temperature of less than 20°
C., and 1 to 5 substitutents represented by the formula;
space="preserve" listing-type="equation">--Y--(X.sub.b R.sup.1.sub.2-b SiO).sub.m SiX.sub.a R.sup.1.sub.3-awherein R1 is the same or different alkyl, alkenyl, aryl, or aralkyl group having 1 to 20 carbon atoms, or a triorganosiloxy group represented by the formula R23 SiO--, where R2 individually is a monovalent hydrocarbon group having from 1 to 20 carbon atoms,X is the same or different hydroxyl group, condensable group or hydrolyzable group;
Y is a divalent group which forms hydrolytically stable bonds to the organic polymer and to a silicon atom of the substituent;
a is an integer from 0 to 3,b is an integer from 0 to 2 with the proviso that if a is 0 then b is 1 or 2 in at least one siloxane unit of the substituent and m is an integer of from 0 to 19 with the proviso that if m is 0 then a is 1, 2, or 3.

A crosslinked polymer dispersion comprising a preformed polymer, selected from the group consisting of silicon modified organic polymers, mixtures of silicon modified organic polymers, mixtures of silicon modified organic polymer(s) with regular organic polymers, mixtures of silicon modified organic polymer(s) with siloxane polymers, mixtures of above polymers, and mixtures of above polymer(s) with organic plasticizers or solvents.

C., and 1 to 5 substituents represented by the formula;
