1. A vehicle seat assembly comprising:

  • a vehicle seat including seat back and bottom cushions to support corresponding back and bottom parts of an occupant seated on the vehicle seat and a headrest having a headrest cushion with a variable height relative to the bottom cushion;

    an occupant-sensing system including a passive transducer array including a plurality of vertically-spaced transducers mounted in one of the seat back and headrest cushions to detect pressure caused by the occupant seated on the vehicle seat and to generate corresponding electrical output signals; and

    a controller coupled to the passive transducer array for processing the electrical output signals and generating an electrical control signal adapted to automatically control a motor coupled to the headrest to adjust the variable height of the headrest cushion based on distribution of body pressure caused by the occupant seated on the vehicle seat detected by the vertically-spaced transducers.
