1. A method for treating depression in a patient in need of therapy, wherein the method comprises:

  • admitting orally into the patient a solid dosage form selected from the group consisting of osmotic, diffusion, bioerosion and ion-exchange comprising 1 mg to 750 mg of a member selected from the group consisting of tandospirone and its pharmaceutically acceptable salts, which member is administered at a dosage controlled-rate of 1 mg to 20 mg per hour over a period of 24 hours by the dosage form to provide antidepressant therapy in the patient.
