1. An underwater audio communication system for use by a diver in water, comprising:

  • a face mask having a head strap for placement above the ear and behind the head of the diver;

    a transceiver connected with and carried by said head strap, said transceiver being configured for receiving and transmitting ultrasonic signals in the water; and

    at least one bone conduction transducer assembly connected with and carried by said head strap at a location for placement against a mastoid bone of the diver, each said bone conduction transducer assembly being electrically connected with said transceiver, each said bone conduction transducer assembly being configured for receiving sound from and transmitting sound to the mastoid bone of the diver.
