1. A piston for an internal combustion engine, comprising:
- a ring land formed with a piston-ring groove;
a skirt connected to said ring land so that said piston-ring groove is adjacent to said skirt, said skirt being formed with a piston-pin hole with a first axis substantially perpendicular to a central longitudinal axis of said piston; and
a taper formed on an external surface of said skirt, said taper extending from a side surface of said piston-ring groove toward a plane including said first axis of said piston-pin hole, said taper converging on said ring land, said taper extending to at least a reference point located at half a distance between said first axis of said piston-pin hole and said side surface of said piston-ring groove.

Abstract
A piston for an internal combustion engine includes a ring land formed with a piston-ring groove, and a skirt connected to the ring land so that the piston-ring groove is adjacent thereto, the skirt being formed with a piston-pin hole with an axis, and having a plane including the axis of the piston-pin hole. A taper is formed on the skirt in a first portion thereof nearer to the ring land than the plane to converge on the ring land.
